Today I’d like to introduce you to Trevor Joseph.

WHAT MADE YOU FINALLY DECIDE TO MOVE FROM WISCONSIN TO LOS ANGELES AND WHAT WAS THE INITIAL REACTION FROM YOUR PEERS?

I decided to move to California because I wanted to do something I loved. I found there wasn’t much in Wisconsin besides factories and theatre. I did both. When I told people my plans I got the usual sarcastic “good luck” because most people don’t just leave my town to become an actor.

DO YOU THINK ITS COMPLETELY NECESSARY TO BE IN ONE OF THE MAJOR CITIES, LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK AS AN ACTOR?

Right now, I would say you would get the most opportunities to work if you live in one of those cities. Although you can definitely make it living in Chicago or Atlanta or one of the smaller markets. Atlanta is turning into a mini-Hollywood.

CAN YOU GIVE US A SNEAK PEEK INTO YOUR AUDITION PROCESS?

My audition process starts with going over the sides. Next, if I’m going out for a role on an already established show, I will try to watch a few episodes of it. Then I start to dive in and get a sense of my character. I start playing around with the text and try to have fun with it. Throughout the audition process, I constantly remind myself that we actors get to play pretend on a daily basis!

YOU’VE NOW FILLED UP A RESUME THAT INCLUDES LIONSGATE, AND AMAZON PRIME! WHAT ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN GIVE ABOUT BEING ON SET?

Some key tips for being on-set would be to be kind and warm to everyone because count on it that word will get around if you are not. Having patience is a big one because filming is a long process. And finally, get used to the writers, directors, and producers changing the script on the day of filming. Overall, my advice is to just have fun.

“If you want opportunity to knock, it's time to build a door.”

Big audition sent! 🙏🏾🙏🏾💯

ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR AN ACTOR ON HOW TO GET INTO CHARACTER?

Everyone’s process is different. My suggestions on how to get in character would be to find similarities between you and the character. How are you like the character? How are you different? And pull that out of you when you go to shoot.

WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED AS AN ACTOR?

What motivates me as an actor is that a lot of people close to me said that I wasn’t going to last a month. That and my mother who was diagnosed with MS really fuel my drive to pursue acting. So I’m not just fighting for me, but for her as well.

When we wrapped crazy lucky on @amazonprimevideo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

HOW DO YOU STAY ARTISTICALLY CREATIVE DURING YOUR DOWNTIME AS AN ACTOR?

What I do during my downtime is I love to write. I recently wrote a pilot about my dating life in California. I also like to go to movies, chill with friends, and enjoy going to a nice comedy show once in a while too.

DO YOU HAVE ANY DAILY ROUTINES CURRENTLY?

My current daily routine is: wake up at 6 am and log on to Actors Access and submit for acting jobs. Around that time, I check my emails to see if I have any auditions that I should be preparing for. Afterward, I write for a couple of hours.

OBVIOUSLY, I AM IMPRESSED WITH WHAT YOU’VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH. WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER ACTORS? AND WHAT’S COMING NEXT FOR YOU?

What sets me apart from other actors is I never quit. If one door shuts I will find another open door. Some projects I have coming up are a feature film called Smoke and another feature, Innocence Dies Young.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE AN ASPIRING ACTOR?

My advice to an aspiring actor would be don’t get into this profession if you’re not 100% committed. However, if you do long to be an actor and move to the big cities, then prepare to bring your A-game!
